The Jacksonville Community Center provides soccer fields and indoor fitness facilities, while its surrounding parks and recreation center provides much more. There are organized sports put together for all ages, over 200 acres of parks and walking trails, and biking trails. For the more adventurous traveler, there is the 33 mile Chief Ladiga Trail. The Chief Lagida Trail runs straight through the city of Jacksonville. Minutes outside of the city, there are also many more parks and trails to choose from.
 
The Robert Trent Golf Trail is a popular spot for golf-lovers, and the Cheaha Mountain National Wilderness Areas and the Talladega National Forest highlight Jacksonville’s great natural landscape. So, if you want to spend time outdoors in any way, whether it be golfing, hunting, fishing, or hiking, Jacksonville is a great vacation choice.
 
The entertainment and nightlife scene rely on the students of Jacksonville State University. The college bar scene is hopping. The most popular bar in the area, Brother’s Bar, was frequented regularly by the Allman Brothers in the 1970s. They actually used to play surprise performances at Brother’s Bar. The bar is still a popular venue for local acts to play. Another bar, also located on the city’s square, is Pelham’s, and it is also a designated spot to visit while out. Jacksonville also has many great local restaurants, and tons of entertainment throughout the year through Jacksonville State University.
 
Overall, Jacksonville is known as safe and charming, and they hope to prove this through their friendly churches and quaint public square.
