Located on the Mobile River and the Gulf Coast, as the only seaport of Alabama, Mobile offers great views of the water. Mobile is actually one of the Gulf Coast’s only cultural hubs. Mobile offers something to do in every area of art.
 
When it comes to visual art, Mobile is the art to several art museums. The most popular and traditional is the Mobile Museum of Art. The Mobile Museum of Art features Southern, American and European art. If you are into more contemporary art though, check out Space 301, a smaller art gallery.
 
In regards to music, Mobile is home of the Mobile Symphony and also to a professional opera house, the Mobile Opera. The city’s many music venues also host local acts on a regular basis as well. If interested in dance, there is the Mobile Ballet. The company puts on many performances throughout the year.
 
Mobile’s nightlife is also great. As the city is close to New Orleans, it is a great place to spend Mardi Gras on a smaller scale, and the city tries to keep a Mardi Gras feel all year on the Mobile Bay. On the Mobile Bay, there are tons of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and live music venues to stay entertained after-hours. Another festival celebrated on the bay is the annual BayFest, a three-day music festival with over 125 acts taking place on up to 10 different stages at a time.
 
The heart and soul of Mobile, which is greatly influenced by Mardi Gras and its French heritage, is definitely felt on the waters of the Mobile Bay while enjoying its rich and exuberant nightlife.
