Switzerland Rentals By Owner
Switzerland is a unique blend of the surrounding German, French, and Italian cultures. The Swiss have managed to take these strong cultures that come from their European neighbors and create for themselves a singularly Swiss culture of their very own. And they’ve done all this while surrounded by some of the most gorgeous scenery in the world! If you need any more reason than the unique culture and the amazing scenery to take a Switzerland vacation rental, keep reading!
Switzerland is well-known for being a very mountainous country, so it’s an ideal vacation rental destination for anyone who likes to ski, snowboard, or go mountaineering. Of course the most famous mountain in Switzerland is easily the Matterhorn! This impressive mountain, lying on the border between Switzerland and Italy, has long been considered an icon for the beautiful Swiss Alps. The Matterhorn isn’t the only impressive mountain in Switzerland, though. In fact, the highest mountain is actually the Dufourspitze. And the Bernese Alps are known for their many waterfalls and the scenic Jungfrau peaks.
Switzerland has a wealth of cities that are certainly worth a visit on your next vacation rental. Gruyères, home of the famous Swiss cheese, is a medieval town that is a popular tourist location because of its gorgeous architecture. Mürren is a traditional mountain village that is actually unreachable by public road but offers a gorgeous (and quiet!) view of three nearby towering mountains. And Lucerne, deep in the heart of Switzerland, is supposedly where William Tell shot the famous apple off of his son’s head.
But, let’s go back to what Switzerland is truly famous for – its spectacular scenery! Lake Geneva is the second largest freshwater lake in Europe and is a haven for watersports such as boating, sailing, and scuba diving. The Valais is a long, L-shaped valley that was formed from glaciers and is home to many popular tourist resorts. In the Valais, you can experience both towering glaciers and a subtropical climate where pomegranate trees grow! And Lugano, a lakeside city near the Italian border, offers up stunning views of both lakes and Alps, as well as a close proximity to Italy’s Lake Como.
So a vacation in Switzerland can mean raising a stein with the German-speaking residents, sipping a cappuccino with the Italian-speaking residents, or toasting a glass of wine with the French-speaking residents….or just enjoying a glass of hot cocoa made from authentic Swiss chocolate!
