Juneau, the capital city of Alaska, is known for its beautiful mountains topped with glaciers. One of the best excursions offered in Juneau is a helicopter ride over the snow-covered mountains that allows a birds-eye view of the Juneau Icefield. The Juneau Icefield houses its light blue glaciers, the Mendenhall Glacier and the Lemon Creek Glacier. Most tours even stop on the top so that guests can get out and say they’ve been on top of a glacier. It’s even a great opportunity to make the best snow angel of your life!
 
The forests of Juneau are also great, nationally protected landmarks. The Tongrass National Forest, the largest forest in the United States, is considered a rainforest and houses mainly western red cedar, sitka spruce, and western hemlock trees. The Tongrass National Forest is also full of brown and black bears and Bald eagles. The forest offers bear viewing areas and tons of hiking trails.
 
If you are looking for your artsy fix, then you’d definitely like to visit Perseverance Theatre. As Alaska’s only professional theatre, Perseverance Theatre focuses on local talents intent on spreading Alaskan history and themes.
 
Another great artsy attraction of the area is the Alaska Folk Festival. The annual celebration of folk music takes place every April in Juneau, and holds performances and workshops for those interested in the music. Musically, Juneau is also the home to the Juneau Jazz and Classic Music Festival and the Juneau Symphony Orchestra.
 
Every first Friday of the month, the city also has a gallery walk to showcase the many art galleries in the area. In the first week of December, on the first Friday, there is a huge and popular gallery walk dubbed the December Gallery Walk that helps to raise money for art in the area and also has live music and dance performances.
 
Both naturally and artistically, Juneau is a very appealing city.
