Mena Vacation Rentals and Lodging
Mena is considered one of Arkansas’ greatest hidden treasures. At the foot of the Rich Mountain, part of the Ouachita Mountain chain, Mena offers great scenery. It is a stop off on the 54-mile Talimena Scenic Drive, a national scenic byway. Mena is surrounded by crystal clear lakes and streams, and it’s only natural that such a backdrop is the home of many open-air bluegrass festivals. One of the more popular festivals is the Annual Ouachita Mountain Bluegrass Spring Festival that takes place in April and is very affordable. Besides the great musicians, it also attracts craft vendors and great food. Spring is also a great time to head to Mena for its mild weather, tulips, emerging wildlife, and Bradford pears. For your music fix all year round, head to Big Bear’s Opry. On the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month, a group of men get together at the local middle school auditorium to perform what they call &jbsp;country music mixed with some western, blues, gospel, and that ole’ time rock-n-roll. In the fall, visitors can attend the Ouachita Art Trail. This event exists to expose non-artists to the work and environment involved in creating art. Visitors take themselves through a self-guided tour of the Ouachita artists’ galleries. While in the area, guests should also check out the Ouachita National Forest, the many antique dealers, and outdoor activities prevalent across the state, like canoeing and hunting. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
