Kodiak Rentals By Owner

Located on Kodiak Island in the beautiful state of Alaska, Kodiak’s scenery is breath-taking. Overlooking gorgeous water, the views from the city’s Pillar Mountain are hard to beat.

Kodiak’s claim to fame is its population of the unique Kodiak bear. The Kodiak bear is essentially Alaska’s version of the brown bear. The Kodiak bear is the largest species of brown bear and can be hunted at certain times and in certain parts of Alaska throughout the year.

The Kodiak Crab Festival takes place on Memorial Day in the city annually. The Kodiak Crab Festival includes rides, sporting events, art, and a seafood cook-off. This events kicks off Alaska’s main tourist season, the summer. Alaska’s cooler summer weather, which can range from 65 to even 90 at some times, makes its amazing scenery and land more appealing.

But winter is a great time to visit Kodiak because of the Northern Lights. Known throughout the world as the breath-taking fluorescent lights that seem to dance in the Alaskan night sky, the Northern Lights can only be viewed in the winter because of Alaska’s long summer days. In the winter, the shortest day only has three hours of light, while in the summer, the longest day has 21.

Fishing is popular throughout the year in Kodiak. Known for mainly the salmon and halibut populations, the waters around Kodiak are always filled with commercial and private boats. There are many tours in the area that allow guests to enjoy the true beauty of the water and the sport of fishing while in Kodiak.
