Very few cars are on the island, and most visitors get around on golf carts. It's easy to be the only person reading or sunbathing in the white sand. The waters of the Gulf of Mexico are home to many fish and reefs that are breath-taking to view while snorkeling. Wind-surfing and kayaking are also popular water recreation. The beaches of Palm Island are also good for shell-searching, sandcastle building, and nature tours. The Palm Island Resort offers tennis and golfing opportunities. Spa services, like a relaxing massage, are also available at the resort. Palm Island is actually sometimes referred to as Don Pedro Island too, and Don Pedro Island State Park is a nice stretch of beach that provides picnic tables and boardwalks for its visitors. Beautiful sea oat-covered sand dunes enrich the scenery at the state park. There are also public-use docks that can be used for boating or fishing. Florida is known for its mangrove trees, and Palm Island contributes to this reputation. An entire side of the island is covered in beautiful mangroves. The wonderful seclusion of the island helps to really enjoy all that Florida has to offer. No shopping and only one restaurant are on the island, but Ft.
