The Seward Highway, of course, runs through Seward, Alaska, and this highway is very popular for a driver’s ability to whale watch while cruising down the road. The most popular whales seen on the drive are Beluga whales.
 
The Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Viewing Trail also starts in Seward, and the trail is also great for whale-watching. Other animals that frequent the outskirts of the Seward Highway and the Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Viewing Trail are otters, moose, eagles, and Dall sheep. If you don’t have a vehicle of your own while vacationing, the city has many motor-coaches and other ground transportation providers that have guided tours across these areas.
 
Another great way to check out the scenery and wildlife of Alaska is to take a trip on the Alaska Railroad.
