On the shores of Lake Havasu, Lake Havasu City is known as a boating community. From March to September, Lake Havasu is frequented by all kinds, from local and California residents, to college students on spring break. The nearby water is a great help in enduring the hot summers — temperatures can reach into the 100s. Winter months are much more pleasant, with average temperatures in the 60s. Another great attraction pertaining to the water is the London Bridge. The bridge spans and connects the Thompson Bay to Lake Havasu. In 1962, the famous and original London Bridge was falling down, and the founder of Lake Havasu City purchased the bridge for almost 2.5 million dollars. The London Bridge was dismantled brick by brick, shipped to California, and then reconstructed, keeping all of its integrity in Arizona. It is a great way to have a little piece of the United Kingdom while still in the United States. Another appeal of the city are the tons of sporting events that happen on the water during the summer months. Lake Havasu City is the home of the International World Jet Ski Final Races. Every year, tons of people flock to Lake Havasu to watch the watercraft riders compete. While in the area during the summer, there’s also the minor league baseball team, the Lake Havasu Heat.
