Made obvious by the name Fountain Hills, the town (it’s so small, it’s not considered a city!) is known for its impressive fountain. The actual fountain of Fountain Hills, Arizona reaches a height of up to 560 feet and sprays once an hour. It’s actually the world’s fourth tallest fountain! While in a natural desert landscape, Fountain Hills has great views of nearby mountains, including Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, and the McDowell Mountains.
 
Fountain Hills is also known as the neighbor to the Fort McDowell Indian Reservation. A Yavapai community, the Fort McDowell Indian Reservation strives to uphold the integrity and history of the Yavapai Nation. The annual Orme Dam Victory Days Celebration is held on the reservation, and throughout the year there are horseback riding, hayrides, and cattle drives to be enjoyed.
 
The Charles W. Juels Fountain Hills Observatory is also located close to the town’s famous fountain. Named after an amateur astronomer who worked in the area and has 315 smaller planet discoveries to his name, the Charles W. Juels Fountain Hills Observatory is a very educational destination location.
 
Annually, Fountain Hills holds two big events, the Fountain Hills Great Fair and the Fountain Hills Festival of Arts and Crafts. The Fountain Hills Great Fair is basically a huge party in February that includes music, food, art, and, the highlight of the fair, the Hot Air Balloon Rally. Later in the year, in November, the town then hosts the Fountain Hills Festival of Arts and Crafts. The festival attracts over 200,000 visitors to beautiful Fountain Hills who are interested in producing and buying arts and crafts, and also those who genuinely enjoy beautiful scenery and great hospitality.
