Flagstaff Vacation Rentals and Lodging
If you’d like to fulfill the lyrics, "Get your kicks on Route 66", Flagstaff, Arizona is a great place to visit! The famed road runs through downtown Flagstaff, and the city mentioned in the song, Winona, is only located about 15 miles east of Flagstaff. Nature is a huge part of Flagstaff, Arizona’s appeal. Located near the base of the Colorado Plateau, the city also has great view of the nearby mountains of the San Francisco Peaks and of Mount Elden. Humphrey’s Peak, the grandest mountain in Arizona, is actually located just 10 miles north of Flagstaff. The city also has the densest population of Ponderosa Pines in the United States. All of this scenery makes the many golf courses in the area all the more appealing. Pinewood, a semi-private golf course, is located in Munds Park, a park that lies in a valley surrounded by rolling hills. On a cultural level, Flagstaff also thrives. The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra is very popular among classical music enthusiasts as they have a 60 year tradition in classical music. Their home venue is the Ardrey Auditorium on the Northern Arizona University campus. Aside from the classical music scene, the city is also known as a hot spot for folk and contemporary acoustic musicians who play regularly at the Orpheum Theatre. Throughout the year, music is also celebrated in the city’s annual festivals. The Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music Festival, Pickin’ in the Pines, and the Flagstaff Music Festival are all very popular, but of the three, Pickin’ in the Pines attracts the largest number of people interested in bluegrass and acoustic music. Music and scenery make Flagstaff definitely worth a visit! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
