Scottsdale, Arizona has once been described at the desert version of South Beach, because of its upscale reputation. Known for its shopping, late-night activities, and typically upscale tourism, Scottsdale is an impressive vacation spot. The downtown Scottsdale waterfront is an impressive scene in and of itself. Filled with chic restaurants, shopping, and architecture, the waterfront is frequented by many. Also frequented by many of Scottsdale's visitors are the art galleries, studios, and museums that can be found in downtown Scottsdale. The art scene in the area is very upscale, yet still remains diverse and interesting in nature. Every week, on Thursdays, the Scottsdale Artwalk takes place through the city’s three distinct art districts: the Main Street Arts District, the Marshall Way Arts District, a more contemporary district, and the Old Town District, which is more western-themed. The annual Scottsdale Arts Festival is a very well-respected and top-rated event that houses over 200 hand-picked artists. The artists present their work at the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall during the month of March. A cool and unique attraction of the area is the annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, which has received a tourism award and showcases 2,000 amazing horses. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show also has vendors, exhibitions, and demonstrations to help attract and entertain the crowds. Another upscale event is the Scottsdale Culinary Festival. In April, the city hosts the Scottsdale Culinary Festival which includes great food, a Challenge to the Chefs, and a beer festival.
