Tucson, Arizona is flanked by mountains and located in the desert. Annually, Tucson holds many events and festivals that are definitely worth visiting, to enjoy and to see this great landscape. The Tucson Folk Festival happens every year during the month of May, and hosts over 120 acts and vendors over the course of a weekend, which range from acoustic music shows to a variety of food and art. All of the artists are local or regional, and admission to the festival is free. One of the highlights of the festival is the singer-songwriter competition.

For two weeks in February, Tucson hosts the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. With showcases of gems set up across the town, the festival attracts all kinds of people who are interested in fine minerals. Twice yearly, in December and March, there is the Fourth Avenue Street Fair that features arts and crafts, tons of food, and performances.

Tucson embraces its ethnicity and individuality in the festival Tucson Meet Yourself. Tucson Meet Yourself brings together the almost 30 different ethnicities living in downtown Tucson by highlighting and sharing their cultures, through food, dance, and music.

Year round, Reid Park is a great place to visit while in Tucson. The park is home to Hi Corbett Field, the spring training venue of the Colorado Rockies, and also to the Reid Park Zoo. The Reid Park Zoo specializes in exotic and tropical animals. The zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day of the week, and throughout the day it’s easy to catch the zookeeper putting on a little show as they feed the animals. The giraffe showcase is one of the popular things to watch and happens each day around lunch time.

Despite its hot weather, which comes with its beautiful desert scenery, Tucson is a pleasant and entertaining vacation spot.
