War Eagle Cavern on Beaver Lake
The spectacular natural entrance of War Eagle Cavern, with waters from deep inside the mountain pouring into our finger of Beaver Lake, is breathtaking! Following the easy, wide open pathways (NO STAIRS) along the edges of the stream flowing throughout the cavern, our knowledgeable guides lead the way through huge rooms, explaining the incredible “domes” and other formations and regaling stories of warriors, draft-dodgers, robbers, moonshiners, squatters and partiers who used the cavern over the years. Our one hour tour features wide pathways (NO STAIRS!) and you can ALSO walk the maze, pan for gems, shop in our store, and grab a bite in the Smoke Signal Cafe – War Eagle Cavern is ideal for your entire family! Located in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, Eureka Springs bypassed the attributes of normal mountain towns, and decided to create a Victorian atmosphere. The streets are lined with Victorian manors and backed with the picturesque Ozarks. These beautiful sights are protected by one of the major attractions in Eureka Springs: the Christ of the Ozarks. This is a 7-story tall statue of Jesus, compiled of 2 million pounds of white concrete. Being such a religious city, it is also not surprising that Eureka Springs is the home of The Great Passion Play, a religious dramatization that is known as one of the best, long-running outdoor shows. It’s in its 40th season. Music, the blues in particular, are also well-represented in Eureka Springs. Every year, each musical genre within the blues—more specifically, jazz, folk, and classical—are honored with a weekend dedicated to their enjoyment. The Lucidity Ozark Poetry Retreat is a well-attended poetry festival that happens annually. Four times a year Eureka Springs hosts what are called locally &jbsp;Diversity Weekends, which are essentially gay and lesbian pride weekends. The city got their name as such a diverse and accepting place because it has long been known as a Mecca to those looking to relax and rejuvenate. It has been affectionately dubbed  little Switzerland. Eureka Springs brings together a love for all art and diversity every year in their May Fine Arts Festival. A festival that takes visitors through the many art galleries, luxury cabins, bed and breakfasts, and hilly streets, all encompassed by the beautiful Ozark Mountains. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
