Butler Beach is a secluded area off of the popular North Florida beach and city, St. Augustine. Butler Beach is a small community of only several thousand, so the beach is perfect for an escape from everyday life. The beaches are so remote that locals and visitors are allowed to drive their vehicles onto the smooth, white sand. This is ideal for bringing a surfboard or kayak out to Butler Beach for some water recreation or for carrying an umbrella as shade from the warm Florida sun. Spending all day reading and sunbathing on Butler Beach is hard to beat.
 
The main appeal of Butler Beach is its fabulous beach home rentals. Quiet homes can be found overlooking the turquoise Atlantic Ocean. For a break from the salt water though, the nearby Intracoastal Waterway, flanked in pluff mud and Florida marsh grasses, is great for a leisurely boat ride, a kayaking excursion, or to check out the wildlife taking up residence there.
 
The North Florida area is a haven for bird watchers, and commonly spotted species include pelicans, herons, and audubons.
 
It's just a short drive away, so head to nearby St. Augustine to be entertained. The St. Augustine Alligator Farm is home to over 20 species of alligators and crocodiles, as well as other birds and reptiles common in Florida.
