New villa with private pool and mountain views
Description
This really is a superb location in which to spend a holiday. For those seeking a relaxing family holiday amid wonderfully tranquil scenery this "cortijo" offers the perfect setting. Reached by 1300 metres of rough track (a normal car hire is suitable), the house is set in a finca of 8,000 square metres, in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda-Almijara.
'Casa Las Jaras' is a newly constructed villa with private pool (8 x 4m; 1.3 - 1,9 m deep.). It has a delightful feeling of comfortable seclusion about it -yet it is perfectly situated for visits to the Málaga coast, while the historic city of Granada would make an excelelent day trip. It sands near the old Moorish village of Archez, approximately 30 minutes from the coast, and is set in the magnificent landscape of the Sierra Tejeda mountains, surrounded by vine-covered hills and a valley sweeping down to the sparkling blue sea in the distance. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for walking, particularly in the cooler months and Spring.
All on one level, this house is ideal for anyone looking for a lazy, relaxing holiday well away from the madding crowd but near enough to the villages of Archez, Canillas de Albaida and Competa for enjoying a night out in one of the many bars and restaurants.
The front shaded terrace has a built-in barbecue at one end and is ideal for outside dining whilst enjoying the panoramic views of the countryside (Natural Park). The Natural Park 'Sierra Tejeda-Almijara' is a carefully preserved area of spectacularly natural beauty teeming with wildlife including deer, mountain goats, hawks and eagles. As well as heaven for nature-lovers, the park is also a walker's paradise. For a day on the beach, the delightul resort of Nerja is not far away - the town offers a choice of sandy beaches, and a visit to its famous caves is also well worthwile.
What we love about this place
'Casa Las Jaras' and the swimming pool area in particular, is in an enviable location, taking full advantage of the sweeping scenery and the hot Andalucían sun, tempered throughout this area by the altitude and the fresh mountain breezes. Its geographical location and the beauty of its scenery, makes this area a wonderful place for a holiday at any time of year.
For those who like to combine the usual holiday pursuits of swimming and sunbathing with some history and culture, there is plenty to see in this area.

Welcome to Andalucia!
Once Spain´s poorest region, Andalucia - and specifically the provinces of Malaga, Granada and Seville - is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, thanks to its sandy beaches, beautiful countryside, spectacular mountain ranges, fabulous monuments and high-spirited people who live life to the full and are well known for their exuberance, warmth and hospitality.
Andalucia is also home of flamenco and bullfighting, which can be best enjoyed at the region´s countless ferias and romerias.
But perhaps the most unique feature of this enchanting region are the remants of its Moorish past. The Moors were a mixture of Berbers and Arabs who crossed into Spain from North Africa by the Straits of Gibraltar and occupied the peninsula - which they called al Andalus - for more than seven centuries, dating from 710 when they first landed in Tarifa. Within a mere four years they had virtually conquered the entire country, although they soon withdrew to the southern part of the peninsula, where they established, in the towns of Cordoba, Seville and Granada, one of the most sophisticated civilisations of the Middle Ages. Each of these Andalucian capitals boasts spectacular remains of their monuments, the most unforgottebale of which is, undoubtedly, Granada's Alhambra palace.
Andalucia has 500 miles of coastline and of which 70% are sandy beaches. The Mediterranean seaboard is graced by the Costa de Almeria, Costa Tropical and the glamorous, cosmopolitan Costa del Sol, while the Costa de la Luz lies along the Atlantic shore to the west of Gibraltar.
As well as Andalucia´s fascinating cities and dazzling shores, the region is sprinkled with tiny unspoilt villages and whitewashed towns - the famous pueblos blancos - which tourists often overlook, even though they are of easy access, such as Competa, Canillas de Albaida, Archez, Salares...
