Quinta do Furão is a five hectare wine growing property situated on the Gramacho Plateau in the district of Santana. The Quinta and its vineyard are on the cliffs at the end of the plateaux and command amazing views of the sea bellow, the coast with its dramatic cliffs and, in the background, valleys leading to the mountains above. There is also a view of a waterfall which cascades, year round, from a gorge by Rocha do Navio.
On clear days the Island of Porto Santo can be seen on the horizon.
Quinta do Furão was awarded an “Estrelicia Dourada” for its superior quality. It is the highest award given by the Regional Government for private enterprise.
The Restaurant and its terraces, Pub, Cellar, Wine Press, Shop, Games Room and traditional thatched house at the Quinta are decorated in a simple, traditional, Madeira style and are built of wood and stone, where the traditional dishes are served, a wine cellar with a bar and a souvenir shop.
Built in a sober style and taking advantage of its magnificent integration into the landscape, the Hotel Quinta do Furão offers a perfect symbioses with the primitive nature. A eighty hotel bed in 40 spacious rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, TV, central heating, elegantly decorated with traditional furniture, as well magnificent views either to the sea or land, some rooms have also a balcony.
