Key West and South Beach – Attractions, Accommodations and Nightlife
When you hear “Florida,” what immediately springs to mind? Sugary white sand and crystal blue ocean water? Theme parks filled with mouse ears and squealing children? Dining on freshly caught fish with a boat drink in your hand? Or perhaps alligators, golf balls and plaid shorts? Each of these iconic images of Florida represents a different facet of the Sunshine State. Visitors to Florida are often passionate about why their chosen spot is the BEST place on the beach and return year after year to claim their place in the sun. Well, at ScenicRentals, we know that practically every corner of Florida is an unforgettable vacation destination brimming with new experiences and old memories.
We also know that in this economy it seems the need to get away ranks right up there with the need to put in extra hours at the old computer, so weekend jaunts may be overshadowing longer trips this summer. But with these two Florida beach destinations and a flight on Thursday night, you can sink your toes in the sand on Friday, dance with supermodels on Saturday and be back in the office on Monday without anyone the wiser.
Key West, Florida
Just 94 miles north of Cuba, Key West Florida beach is a community full of contrasts and beauty. It’s hard to believe that such a tropical place exists in the United States. Here, travelers will find tranquil palm trees and sandy beaches alongside historic landmarks, restaurants to tempt every palate, and nightlife teeming with reckless abandon. A bustling port for cruise ships from around the world, yet still a laid back beach town with a distinctly off-beat attitude, Key West is a treat for the senses anytime of day or night. Lodging options in Key West are as varied as the residents. From hotels to bed and breakfasts to private homes, the choice is yours for vacation rentals Key West style. ScenicRentals has several properties listed in the Key West area. View our Key West Vacation Rentals to find the perfect lodging for your next vacation in Florida.
Popular attractions include landmark Key West Florida restaurants and bars down Duval Street, tours of the Ernest Hemingway museum and home, water pursuits of every type including snorkeling, fishing, and scuba diving, pirate tours, and of course the nightly sunset celebration in Mallory Square, where tourists and locals mix and mingle while celebrating the day in their own unique way. You never know who you might run into in Key West – rumor has it that Jimmy Buffett’s been known to hop onstage at his restaurant for an impromptu set or two. Just remember to watch for the roving chickens as you’re wandering the streets – they don’t always adopt that island attitude.
Miami’s South Beach
After a good night’s sleep (thanks in part to that sunset celebration), wave goodbye to the sights and sounds of Key West beach Florida, pull out those designer sunglasses, and point your convertible 160 miles northeast to Miami’s South Beach. Between the nightlife of South Beach, legendary shopping, and amazing food, you’re sure to do more than work on your tan in this glamorous beach city. Known in part for the art deco architecture that abounds there, South Beach is a modern playground for the beautiful and often famous.
Ocean Drive is one of the most popular places in the world for fashion photography, and reportedly more than 1500 models reside in the area. Nestled among the art deco landscape is legendary fashion designer Gianni Versace’s former home, Casa Casuarina. This mansion where Versace was killed in 1997 is one of the most notable landmarks along the famed Ocean Drive. Featured prominently in the 1996 comedy The Birdcage, Ocean Drive is also known for the nightclubs that abound. South Beach Miami clubs offer an ever evolving landscape where locals and visitors like to see and be seen. But be sure to leave your flip flops at home and bring more than pocket change – the velvet rope only opens for those who look the part and are willing to pay for the privilege of whiling the night away with the international crowd that frequents South Beach’s hotspots.
Accommodations in South Beach Miami range from boutique hotels and bed and breakfasts to villas, apartments, and condos. Scenic Rentals offers many options both in the heart of South Beach and in quieter areas that are easily accessible to all the activity South Beach Miami has to offer. I like Florida, I like Miami. It seems to be the city of contrasts. A lot of attractions can be also found there. I have visited this place myself and recommend other tourists.

I would like to say that Miami is a great paradize for people who like nightlife very much.
