On the road in Longboat Key

Like they say in that song, Mike and I are going where the weather suits our clothes. We made it into Longboat Key last night and we can’t wait to hit the beaches today! But…we can’t. Even though the beaches are calling our names and just being downright mean, we’ve got to get out there and talk with all you property owners!
We had a great day yesterday in Clearwater Beach, Indian Shores, Madeira Beach, and all the surrounding areas. Everyone here is unbelievably friendly and welcoming – it must be that living in paradise puts you in a constant good mood! It also could be that we come bearing gifts – everyone loves a coffee mug, right? And while we were driving around the area, we got honked at! Mike’s convinced that it was someone who reads this blog and was just honking like I asked them to in the last blog post…but it could have just been Mike’s erratic driving. He almost ran up on the curb because he thought he saw Bobby Bowden walking down the sidewalk! (Don’t worry everyone – he’s actually a very good driver. You don’t have to leap into the bushes when you see the Scenic Rentals-mobile coming down the street.)
Last night we stayed at a by owner vacation rental called Beach Castle, in Longboat Key. It’s an absolutely adorable one bedroom condo that’s decorated in the Florida beach cottage style. Comfortable couch, comfortable bed, comfortable everything! It felt very homey – in fact, they even had a few of the exact same pictures that Mike and I have hanging up in our house! Talk about feeling at home!
We went into Sarasota for dinner and ate at Tommy Bahamas. Yummy, yummy island-inspired food. We attempted to go to an Irish pub to celebrate St. Patty’s day but, of course, they were all completely packed! And we were starving from working hard all day…we needed food fast! Tommy Bahama’s didn’t disappoint – we had delicious seafood dishes and some Tommy Bahamas microbrews. Refreshing!
Today we’re going to hit the Longboat Key, Anna Maria Island, and Englewood area. And, thanks to a tip from Dawn on our Facebook Fan Page, we’re going to make sure and visit Siesta Key, too! (Thanks, Dawn!)
Tomorrow we attack Marco Island and Fort Myers Beach – any owners who would like us to check out their properties, just let us know! Also, for any property owners who let us stay the night in their places, we’re paying the cleaning fee, blogging about them, and creating their very own virtual tour to be incorporated onto Scenic Rentals in the near future!
