Beaches of South Walton

An Insider’s Guide to the Beaches of South Walton

Our next stop on the Cyber Roadtrip 2010 is just a few miles from Sandestin, down Scenic Highway 30-A. Though this Florida Panhandle area known as the Beaches of South Walton district may be only a short drive from the bustling commerical towns of Destin and Panama City, the quiet suroundings and remote feeling will convince you it’s many miles away from the hustle and bustle. This gorgeous area is filled with miles of pristine beaches and the sugar white sand and glistening green water that the Emerald Coast is known for. Fifteen communities are included in the Beaches of South Walton, stretching from Seascape and Sandestin near Destin to Alys Beach and Inlet Beach just outside Panama City Beach. Communities include Seascape, Miramar, Sandestin, Dune Allen, Santa Rosa, Blue Mountain, Grayton, Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove, WaterSound, Seacrest, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach and Inlet Beach.

If you’re looking for a Florida beach vacation destination with plenty of room to roam, serene uncrowded beaches and traditional vacation rentals that will accommodate a large group, the Beaches of South Walton are the place for you. Here, you’ll find those wonderful beach homes you remember from childhood - deep, welcoming porches, plenty of bedrooms and the luxury of running out the door and straight into the water without having to contend with elevators, parking lots and the general trappings of more commercialized areas. Take long walks and marvel in the natural surroundings of the area. Enjoy a round of golf amidst spectacular beauty or just watch the sun sink into the Gulf of Mexico from the porch of your by owner vacation rental. But unlike many of the more remote Florida beach destinations, the Beaches of South Walton are just minutes from delicious restaurants, great shopping and all the modern amenities you would expect from an Emerald Coast vacation.

The Beaches of South Walton offer a perfect compromise between the high-rise, commercialized, plenty-to-see-and-do atmosphere of more touristed destinations like Destin and Panama City Beach, Florida, and the quiet, remote beach towns that provide plenty in the way of solitude and tranquility but little choice for entertainment and dining options.
