This week we’re taking the Cyber Roadtrip back to the Florida Panhandle to explore one of the best family-friendly beaches around …Panama City Beach. Now I know what you might be thinking, something along the lines of,  WAIT…hold the phone…PANAMA CITY BEACH? Do you mean the PCB known for cheesy hotels, wild college spring breaks and teenagers cruising the Strip and creating huge traffic nightmares? Well travelers, thanks to recent renovations and expansions around town, those unflattering stereotypes are a thing of the past. New Panama City Beach attractions have earned PCB the distinction of becoming known as one of the most desirable beaches to visit in the good old U.S. of A. In fact, more than six million visitors take a Panama City Beach vacation each year, primarily in the spring andsummer months. The year-round population of PCB is just 7,500, but the well-planned town was created with large numbers in mind and there are plenty of Panama City Beach homes offered for short and long-term rental.

Situated in Northwest Florida between the Gulf of Mexico andSt. Andrews Bay, PCB is home to 27 miles of beautiful sugar sand beaches and some of the prettiest green water on the Emerald Coast. And withan average of 320 days of sunshine each year, you’re bound to find the sun during your vacation. St. Andrews State Park is a 1,260 acre natural area housing a varied ecosystem and enough forests, sand dunes, marshes and lagoons to get lost in. Surrounded by so much natural beauty, it’s easy to forget there is a bustling beach town at your fingertips.

During your visit, you’ll enjoy family-friendly Panama City Beach attractions like the zoo, a marine park, water and amusement parks and miniature golf. The recently completed Pier Park offers one million square feet of  upscale entertainment, dining and shopping opportunities. Challenging golf courses, relaxing spas and fantastic restaurants await in Panama City Beach. Andseasonal events keep the party going year round.

This weekend, thousands will flock to PCB to attend the Thunder Beach Spring Motorcycle Rally. Held every Spring and Fall, Thunder Beach has been named “The Most Biker Friendly FREE Rally in the U.S.” This weekend’s events kick off tomorrow and run through Sunday (April 29th – May 2nd) and will feature live music, a Saturday Crawfish Boil, the Miss Thunder Beach pageant and a wide variety of entertainment options. For a complete schedule of events, click here to visit the Thunder Beach official website.

Whether you’re in search of a quiet weekend soaking up the sun or in the mood for a party, you’ll find what you’re looking for in the new Panama City Beach.

beach vacations monthly rentals florida July 19th, 2011 at 2:01 am

I live in Georgia (just outside of Atlanta) and I want to take my family (my husband, 2 1/2 yr old son and possibly my mother in law) on a beach vacation. I really want to go somewhere that would have waves and to be near the actual ocean not a cove and lake or inlet. I also am interested in something that is affordable. Lastly somewhere that is within 8 hrs drive from where I live. Any suggestions?.
