Regarding adequate lodging space for the whole family at resorts and hotels that advertise themselves as "family friendly"- JW Marriott Resort and Spa on the island of Phuket in Thailand has a vacation club attached to the resort and offers ownership options. I guess "vacation club" is the name Marriott uses for what most people know as time shares.
I stayed there for three nights a couple of years ago and the apartments on offer are very large and comfortable. 3 bedrooms with a large living room, two bathrooms and big open plan kitchen. I really had a great time there and would love to go back.
